The Alstom R&D Gas Turbines Product Support team (GSTDS) in Baden is continuously monitoring the field experience of commercial gas turbine power plants worldwide. Its mission is the field introduction of new products or upgrades and their continuous improvement of availability and reliability. The objective of the 6 months internship in Gas Turbines Product Support is the analysis of field data received from Gas Turbine Power Plants. The analysis will consist of retrieving, evaluating and documenting data. The intern will work in an integrated and international team, taking part in the root cause analysis of gas turbine operational issues and the development of improvement measures. The detailed task description is subject of the projects the internship will participate in. Following typical tasks will be performed during the internship in R&D Gas Turbines Product Support: Evaluating of gas turbines field data using internal data storage and post processing tools, e.g. for temperature, pressure, emission and other process data Analysing the root cause of operational issues using statistical tools, fluid and thermodynamic models Collecting lifetime and material degradation data of gas turbine parts in correlation to its operational history, i.e. operational profile, fuel gas and fuel oil quality, etc. Supporting project managers in order pass technical and project gate reviews The intern will develop practical knowledge in industrial gas turbines operation as well as product development and validation processes. Completing these tasks will support the individual project teams work in optimizing and improving the reliability and availability of the advanced gas turbine fleet and identifying opportunities for cost and emission reduction. The intern shall document the results of the tasks according to Alstoms internal rules. Furthermore, the work will be presented in the project team.
